Music Licence and Approved Usage

All music available on the H&M Music Portal is included in H&M’s licence agreement and is cleared for use within the approved usage areas listed below. No separate music reporting is required for music used from the portal.

The licence also applies to agencies, production companies, creators, influencers and other external partners working on behalf of H&M, provided that the music is used in content created for H&M and within the approved usage areas.

Included in the Licence

The music may be used for the following purposes:

  • Web and social media
    Includes H&M’s own digital channels, such as websites, campaign pages, organic and paid social media posts, as well as influencer marketing channels when the content is created on behalf of H&M.
  • Events
    Includes store openings, launch events, fashion shows, internal and external H&M events, and similar activations.
  • Radio advertising
    Includes radio commercials and audio advertising related to H&M.
  • Spotify Ads
    Includes advertising on Spotify.
  • Gaming
    Includes gaming-related campaigns, activations and content created for H&M.

Allowlisting Music for Social Media

When working with influencers or social media parters channels and users must be pre cleared to avoid mutes, takedowns or copyright strikes. Accounts/channels must be submitted in advance to use music from the H&M Music Portal as part of an H&M campaign.

To allowlist an account, the following information is required:

  • The URL of the social media account or channel
  • The track or tracks that will be used
  • The approximate publication date

Please note that allowlisting is a technical platform requirement and does not extend the approved licence scope. Any usage outside the approved areas still requires separate clearance.

Not Included in the Licence

The licence does not include usage in the following formats:

  • TVC
    The music may not be used in television commercials without separate approval and licensing.
  • Cinema advertising
    The music may not be used in cinema advertising without separate approval and licensing.

Any usage outside the approved areas requires separate clearance before the music may be used.
